Your new baby is on the way. 

Are you prepared?

What do you need...right now...before the sweet little bundle arrives?

Well...the authors of "Baby's First Year" Sandy Jones and Marcie Jones have provided a
nice neat list of immediate necessities in their book, which will give you some practical
suggestions before the blessed event.

The authors go into more detail, but I wanted to give you some of the highlights from their
"Baby Shopping Checklist".

According to the authors (with their recommendations) some of the items you may need now are:

1)  CAR SEAT...Recommend a "convertible" seat that faces rearward during the first year and forward
until 40 pounds; or a less adaptable rear-facing infant-only seat.

2)  CRIB...Recommend A mid-priced, Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA)-certified
model with a quality wood finish to match your home decor.

3)  CRIB MATTRESS...Recommend a mid- to upper-priced foam or innerspring.

4)  SHEETS AND MATTRESS COVERS...Recommend from 3 to 4 fitted bottom sheets, and at least 2 mattress
covers for the crib, and 2 to protect your mattress.

5)  BLANKETS...Recommend 4 or more lightweights, and 2 thicker polyester-weave blankets (for winter).

6)  DIAPERS AND CLOTHING...Recommend bibs, booties, footed sleepers, hats, nightgowns, onesies,
reusable diapers and covers, socks, sweaters, T-shirts, and washcloths.

7)  DIAPER WIPES...Recommend at least one box to start.

8)  BOTTLES AND NIPPLES...Recommend four 4-ounce-sized bottles for storing breastmilk or formula, and at
least a 3-pack of spare silicone nipples (use slow flow for babies younger than 6 months).

9)  BOTTLE BRUSH...Recommend at least one.

So, there you have it in a nutshell.

I hope this gives you at least a starting point for your new baby's basic needs in the beginning.
